"House of Cards" may still be moving even without the powerful Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey).

In the wake of the many sexual harassment accusations hurled against Spacey, streaming giant Netflix is trying to figure out how to move with their "House of Cards" universe without its lead character. Netflix already initially declared that season 6 will be the show's final season, but after a couple of days announced that they are shutting down the production of the sixth season indefinitely.

Reports have surfaced that Netflix is currently exploring several spin-off stories to keep the franchise going. According to Variety, Netflix is said to be developing follow-up series about Frank's right-hand man Doug Stamper played by Michael Kelly. Aside from this possible storyline being pursued, there are at least two more spin-off ideas in development, but everything is still being kept under wraps. It seems that "House of Cards" is doing the "Game of Thrones" playbook by having several teams of writers to develop various spin-offs from the mother show.

On the other hand, as pointed out by Vanity Fair, in order to keep the old fans of "House of Cards" and possibly attract new ones as well, Netflix should think of developing a spin-off that will focus on Frank's equally scheming wife Claire. It should also highlight her Dallas upbringing, her young life and life before meeting her devious husband. Her possible spin-off story is more logical in the series story as she is now the President of the United States and has begun relying less on Frank's wisdom and machinations and more on her ability to manipulate people.

"House of Cards" has been widely praised as the show put streaming channel Netflix on the programming map when it launched in 2013. The show has been nominated for 53 Primetime Emmy Awards which includes five nominations for outstanding drama series.
