Winter is coming to "Horizon Zero Dawn," as the PlayStation 4 (PS4) exclusive game will be getting its new expansion, "The Frozen Wilds," with a matching sneak peek.

Developer Guerrilla Games has revealed a new 10-minute gameplay footage of the expansion. Principal Quest Designer Tim Stobo and Quest Designer Blake Rebouche take players for a peek of one of the expansion's quests, "Survivor." The trailer show's the base game's protagonist, Aloy, traversing the snowbound landscape and interacting with a tribe called White Teeth.

Apparently, the expansion will also include new enemies and new areas for Aloy and the players to explore. The winter-themed setting is a welcome change of scenery from the original game's sprawling hills and tundra. Some of the robot wildlife include machines resembling deer, which Aloy can hunt, and robotic wolves called "Scorchers" that rob Aloy of her kill.

Much like it goes in the base game, Aloy will also be able to use her bow and its multiple options for taking down robotic enemies. With the "Frozen Wilds" expansion, though, players can expect that this combat system and weaponry will be improved with more options and gameplay tactics. To counterbalance this upgraded arsenal, new mechanical towers are also introduced in the expansion and will buff any nearby robots that Aloy may be fighting. Additionally, the said towers will also be able to repair the machines.

"Frozen Wilds" will be available for players who purchased it at the start of the game, although with the difficult nature of the expansion, the developers have suggested refraining from the expansion until level 30. Otherwise, new players may get frustrated with the difficulty. For existing players of the base game, a good 15 or more hours of gameplay is expected to be added by the expansion, along with more loot and a new skill tree.

"Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds" is set to be released for the PS4 on Nov. 7 and will be available for £15.99 with a 25 percent discount for PS Plus members.
