'Homeland' season 7 spoilers: Keane faces new enemy

As the hit Showtime series "Homeland" is on a break before season 7, fans are making do with what was left behind. 

For "Homeland" season 7, fans can expect that Elizabeth Keane's (Elizabeth Marvel) nightmares are not over. As many of her nemeses want her dead, the President's choice is crucial in saving her life. It is never too late to get Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) back because, after all, Keane was saved by Mathison and Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend), which led to the latter's death.

Hollywood Reporter revealed late September that there will be new blood added to the roster of the political series. Dylan Baker will play Senator Sam Paley, a legislator who will spearhead an inquiry to the administration. The senator is believed to become the main antagonist in the next season as he investigates the Keane government. 

Morgan Spector and Mackenzie Astin were also announced to join the cast of "Homeland." Spector will play Dante Allen, who will investigate the detention of many people, as ordered by Keane after a failed assassination attempt. Astin will return as a guest star and will play Bill, the brother-in-law of Mathison, who will work for Keane. This had led to rumors that Mathison's family members might be turning on her. 

"Parenthood" actress Courtney Grosbeck will also be on the show, playing Mathison's niece, Josie. Josie is a politically-conscious teen, the kind who might go out every weekend to protest the Keane administration.

As Keane might probably be facing a lot of coup and assassination attempts, especially from a new enemy, it is highly likely that the official will again listen and trust Mathison. However, it is unclear whether or not Mathison will use this advantage to topple Keane's reign.  

The season finale of "Homeland," titled "America First," which aired on April 9, reaped praises for accurately portraying the recent state of the government. Keane's paranoia got the better of her as Mathison asked the official to stop the nonsense. The sixth season's last episode also saw Quinn's death, to the disappointment of fans.

Production for the next run already started on Sept. 11, in Richmond, Virginia. The seventh installment of "Homeland" is expected to arrive in early 2018.
