The elusive and lethal Agent 47 from the "Hitman" video games will now be chasing targets in television, as Hulu is working with "John Wick" creator Derek Kolstad for the show adaptation.

The award-winning and best-selling game from Io Interactive about a genetically modified contract killer, is now underway and will be getting its very first series in Hulu. This, however, was not the first time the gaming franchise has branched out to other media forms, as there have been two movie adaptations for the same game released in past years. Both, however, did not fare so well in the commercial and critical aspects.

Fans worrying the the show might meet the same creative fate as the movies need not fret anymore as Kolstad will be working with both Hulu and Fox 21 to ensure that the assassin is given justice on the boob tube. Kolstad will reportedly be writing the script. He is best known for his work on the first "John Wick" movie, and he will also be writing for the upcoming third one.

Kolstad will also be an executive producer of the show, while the project is to be overseen by Fox 21's Bert Salke, Jane Francis, Gloria Fan, Kira Innes, and Jordan Helman. Hulu is also hoping that "Hitman" will become a flagship series, due to the reputation of Kolstad, as well as the source material's popularity.

All in all, the "Hitman" franchise and all its six official games from 2000 to 2016, have sold as much as 25 million copies, with a big, 7-million-copy chunk being contributed by the latest game. Titled "Hitman," this installment utilized an episodic release formula per mission.

The entire game franchise centers around Agent 47's exploits as the best contract killer working for the International Contract Agency (ICA). He was inspired by the spy and hitman James Bond, codenamed "007," hence his code name, Agent 47. The agent also has a female handler named Diana, who acts as a proxy between him and the secret organization.

No exact air date has been announced for the "Hitman" series yet, but rest assured, it is now in the works.
