'High School Musical 4' news: Hudgens not confirmed due to busy schedule

The former cast of "High School Musical" is seemingly not in it together, as Vanessa Hudgens, despite voicing her interest in reprising her role as Gabriella Montez for the upcoming "High School Musical 4," is busy with other projects.

This was due to Hudgens being reportedly preoccupied with her role in the romantic comedy "Second Act," with Jennifer Lopez. Fans may have to wait indefinitely for Gabriella in "High School Musical 4," since Hudgens will be playing a young executive at a consumer goods company in "Second Act" first before taking on other projects.

Lopez has confirmed this by announcing Hudgens' participation in her movie through her Instagram account. The post shows a photo of Lopez welcoming Hudgens in the upcoming movie with a close hug.

After "Second Act," Hudges would also be taking on her role in Ken Marino's "Dog Days," where she'll be playing Tara, an ambitious and frustrated coffee shop barista along with actress Nina Dobrev.

This was all despite Hudgens' positive reaction to the fan-made trailer for "High School Musical 4." She said that she loved it and that she discussed a possible reunion movie with former co-star Ashely Tisdale, who played Sharpay Evans. Additionally, Hudgens will also be wanting to reprise her role in "High School Musical 4" only if its story will take after the fan-made trailer, which may be a tall order especially for the producers of the said movie.

Still, rumors say that Hudgens will be playing the role of a teacher in the upcoming fourth movie for "High School Musical," something which Hudgens can do but did not like. While the possibility of the fourth movie is certain now, as it is reportedly in production, Hudgens' appearance in the movie is still not certain.

The fan-made trailer for "High School Musical 4" featured several clips from the previous "High School Musical" movies and followed the cast and their various projects after they graduated from the franchise. The unofficial teaser has since then become viral.

"High School Musical 4" has no exact release date yet, although its IMDB page shows a 2017 release date.
