Last month, it was reported that One Direction is about to take a one-year hiatus to focus on individual projects. While Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne all took to Twitter to confirm the news — all the while reassuring their distraught fans that the break isn't permanent — Harry Styles has remained mum on the subject, and the singer hasn't mentioned the brief break on social media.

However, a new report claims that the singer has begun working on his solo project. According to The Sun (via The Daily Mail), Styles has already recorded 20 songs for his new solo album.

A source told the website, "Harry has been writing constantly both when on the road and when doing his own thing. He's managed to work on and record 20 songs already."

The insider added that some of the songs that the 21-year-old singer has written were given to One Direction, but the singer is reportedly hard at work creating his own sound.

The report claims that Styles' label, Syco, is looking forward to the singer's plans and is determined to make his solo career a success.

Apart from a solo singing career, Styles is also reportedly being eyed to star in the big screen adaptation of the hit U.K. television series "Absolutely Fabulous." Another source told The Sun (via The Telegraph) that actress Jennifer Saunders wants the boy band member to join the cast of the upcoming film.

"Jennifer has told friends she wants Harry to be part of the movie. She's got great cameos in the bag already, but wants to give the film a young, hipster edge," said the source to the website.

The insider added that if Saunders can find a way to work Styles in the script, then her character, Patty, will have a new boy "to chase."

Styles has yet to comment on the reports.
