'Gwenpool' news: Female Deadpool counterpart cancelled by Marvel

Gwenpool getting ready to face Doctor Doom Marvel

Fans will find it hard to believe that the "Unbelievable Gwenpool" is getting cancelled by Marvel. Sadly, the final issue of the series about the female Deadpool counterpart will be happening on Feb. 2018.

The news was officiated by Marvel Comic Editor Heather Antos, where she tweeted the fate of the comic book series, saying, "So the news is out - GWENPOOL #25 will be the Unbelievable finale. I won't say my goodbyes just yet - there are still two amazing issues yet to come. I will say you do NOT want to miss out."

The last two issues will be released in January and February, and fans expecting that the tables might still turn for the series should the popularity resurge for the last two issues, Marvel's decision has already been made.

"Unbelievable Gwenpool" is a series about Gwendolyn "Gwen" Poole who wears a costume similar to that of the insane and unkillable anti-hero Deadpool. As such, the character's inception came from the amalgam of Deadpool and Spiderman's love interest, Gwen Stacy. Although the character has been retconned by the writers to not be related to either, both Gwenpool's costume and choice of weapons remain similar to that of Deadpool's.

The final two issues of "Unbelievable Gwenpool" include the 24th and 25th issues, which will both have a two-part arc named "Lost in the Plot." The solicitations for the plot of both issues reveal that Gwenpool may be in a predicament where only her friends can help her with, particularly Batroc. Apparently, the two might team up to stop a heist on Manhattan's high-class casinos.

The 25th issue might see Gwenpool finally being able to join the Avengers, though to what extent remains to be seen. This is because joining the legendary superhero collective is one of the things on her bucket list, and with the end of her comic book series, she may finally be able to fulfill this one.

Gwenpool's story ends in Feb. 2018 once the 25th issue of "Unbelievable Gwenpool" comes out.
