The developers of "Grand Theft Auto 6" ("GTA 6") just might get away with radical new changes for the franchise, as rumors surface that the next game will be a return to Vice City and will have a female protagonist which is definitely a first in the history of "GTA."

An anonymous "inside source" close to online media The Know has reportedly just leaked what the next premise of the highly awaited "GTA 6" will be. The said source even referred to the next game with the working title of "Project Americas," which made fans suspect that in addition to "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City," the game will also include South or Central American countries or possibly Caribbean islands countries.

It is worth noting that the "Grand Theft Auto" does not make actual replicas of real cities but more like imitations of them with different names but the same attractions and cultures such as Liberty City being based on New York City or Los Santos being inspired by Los Angeles.

Another big rumor that came up about "GTA 6" is that the next protagonist will be female, as opposed to the historically male-driven past games. This is according to the reports of website VG247 though not many details have been revealed about the supposedly female protagonist.

Fans expecting the upcoming game to be a return to the 1980s might not want to expect such, as there were no details leaked on what time period in modern history the game will assume. This means that there is a slim chance for the return of "Vice City" protagonist Tommy Vercetti (Ray Liotta) or the funky '80s neon-flavored soundtrack.

Additionally, VG247 also claimed that "GTA 6" could release on 2022, which is certainly a long time away from now, meaning all these rumors might eventually lose the spotlight as time goes by. At the moment though, it seems the developers are still too busy with their upcoming game "Red Dead Redemption 2" to announce or hint anything concerning the distant "GTA 6."
