After the events in the season four finale of "Grimm," it looks like Nick (David Giuntoli) will be going down a darker path as he tries to cope with Juliette's (Bitsie Tulloch) death and his impending fatherhood to his child with Adalind (Claire Coffee). And it looks like all is not well with the Grimm's professional life as well, as he gets suspended from work by Captain Renard (Sasha Roiz) as seen in the new trailer for the upcoming season.
In the trailer, Nick is seen mourning Juliette as he goes into a downward spiral. His friend Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) is heard saying that Nick is "grasping at whatever straw he can find," with the protagonist driving erratically down a busy street.
"You have to take some time," Captain Renard tells him.
"Are you suspending me?" Nick asks.
As Nick tries to seek answers, he tells Monroe that he can't be part of whatever he's about to do, and Hank (Russell Hornsby) says Nick is going off the deep end. Monroe adds that whatever it is that the Grimm has to do, he's doing it on his own.
At the "Grimm" panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, Giuntoli confirmed that Nick will be determined in getting revenge in season 5, but his baby with Adalind will give him cause to move on after he has suffered the losses of his mom and the love of his life. In season 4, it was revealed that Adalind became pregnant after her encounter with Nick back in season 3 when she disguised herself as Juliette.
Coffee said that while her character has lost all her powers again, Adalind's focus will be on the baby and finding a job. It was earlier reported that the baby will be seen in the first episode of the new season.
"Grimm" season 5 premieres on Oct. 30 on NBC.
