"Game of Thrones" is going big for its eighth and final season as evidenced by the HBO series' production set in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Majority of the cast members have already flown in to Belfast to start the production of season 8 of "Game of Thrones" and naturally, fans are curious to see what scenes the production might be shooting. New photos have come out of what appears to be a big set piece of the show built near the Paint Hall in the Titanic Quarter in Belfast.
Previous reports noted that the set was much smaller a week ago, but it has expanded since then. No details yet if the set-piece will either be The Red Keep or Casterly Rock. While it could be easier to just film a building using CGI, it looks the set-piece might be used for an action scene.
In additional photos posted on Twitter, a trebuchet can be seen which gives credence that an action scene might be shot there using the big set piece.
Meanwhile, when it comes to the plot, Kit Harrington, who plays Jon Snow, said in an interview that he cried after reading the script for season 8.
"I'm really emotional about [the end]. We had a read-through last week, in fact, so I know everything now," he said.
The actor added that after the table read, he cried as he became nostalgic about doing "Game of Thrones" for eight years. He admitted that this year will be strange for all of them, saying goodbye to one another and having their last scenes shot. The cast and crew have all become attached to the HBO series alongside the fans worldwide that have grown to love it.
To say that the last season will be the most epic one is an understatement if the set pictures are to be believed. It's safe to say that "Game of Thrones" intends to end with bang and fans still have the spin-off shows to look forward to.
"Game of Thrones" season 8 will air on HBO sometime in 2018 or 2019.
