US network Fox has announced that it will produce a new TV series following the life of a young Jesus.

Not much is known about Christ before he began ministry at the age of 30, but 'Nazareth' is just one in a long list of Biblical dramas currently being developed, and follows in the footsteps of Lifetime's 'The One' which will also explore Jesus' early years.

Nazareth will be produced by David Franzoni – who wrote the screenplay for the 2000 epic Gladiator - Bob Cooper, Jamie Campbell and Joel Wilson.   Further details about the project have not yet been released.

2014 has been dubbed 'the year of the Bible' due to the unprecedented number of movies and TV shows based on Scriptural themes.

Darren Aronofsky's Noah starring Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly and Emma Watson has raked in a total of over $320 million worldwide at the box office, while God's Not Dead – a faith based drama – has taken a commendable $53 million in the US alone.

Heaven is for Real starring Greg Kinnear, a movie about a 4-year-old's vision of heaven produced by Megapastor Bishop TD Jakes, exceeded expectations by earning a staggering $21.5 million on its opening weekend earlier this month, and has since earned a total of almost $54 million, offering a huge profit on the original $12million budget production.
