'Fixer Upper' star Joanna Gaines shares Mother's Day message to moms: 'You are enough'

Christian TV personality Joanna Gaines of HGTV's "Fixer Upper" believes that motherhood is a blessing. Sometimes, however, mothers get so overwhelmed by their many tasks that they feel guilty for not being up to speed with all of their responsibilities.

Just in time for Mother's Day, Gaines wrote an inspiring message on her blog for all hardworking mothers like her who are struggling with self-doubt. She titled it "You are enough."

"I think at times all moms get this insecure feeling of 'I'm not doing enough,'" she said. "As a working mom, it's the hardest when my kids grab onto me as I'm walking out the door and say, 'Mommy please stay home!' I don't want to ignore that, so I always explain to them that being with them is my favourite thing in the world."

That same guilt also hits Gaines whenever she stays at home to do things she loves, such as take a nap, fold laundry, prepare dinner, or write on her blog. But Gaines said she has to remind herself that it is important for her to take time out for herself and be "creatively fed" so that there will be proper balance in her life, and no feelings of discontent will arise.

"I hope if you're in this season now you'll take the time to allow yourself a few minutes a day to do what you love, too," she wrote. "I found it was the thing that kept me balanced and energised."

As difficult as motherhood can get sometimes, Gaines said nothing could ever beat the feeling of receiving the love and thankfulness of one's children. "And no matter what season you find yourself in, just know that you are doing enough, and you are loved and appreciated. Take a few moments today to look around and appreciate your children and the stage they're in," she said.
