'Five Nights at Freddy's' movie to have practical effects

Last week, it was announced that Gil Kenan has made a deal with Warner Bros. to direct the live action adaptation of "Five Nights at Freddy's," the popular game created by Scott Cawthon. According to Deadline, the "Monster House" director will be writing the script with Tyler Burton Smith.

In the days that followed the announcement, Kenan answered fans' questions via social media about the upcoming film, and even posted a few pictures to show his followers what the murderous animatronic gang could look like in the movie.

On July 28, Kenan tweeted the first teaser picture for "Five Nights at Freddy's" along with the caption, "animatronic forever." On his Instagram account, the director also revealed that the film will have minimal CGI and will have a lot of practical effects. According to Kotaku, Kenan revealed on his Instagram that the animatronics will be constructed at the Henson Creature Shop.

When he was asked by a Twitter user how the robots are supposed to move, writing, "Surely you couldn't create bipedal robots of that size?" Kenan replied that he can try to do so.

On the reason why practical effects were chosen over CGI, Kenan wrote, "I want this to be crazy practical — that's what makes animatronics so unnerving — they're REAL."

As for the cast, not much has been revealed as of the moment, although the director's social media feed has been inundated with some suggestions, with one Instagram follower reminding Kenan to pick an actor with blue eyes for the main character.

When a worried fan tweeted that fans are expecting him to stick to the game's storyline, Kenan reassured the Twitter user by confirming that he is a big fan of the franchise and that Cawthon will be heavily involved in the film. However, Kenan revealed that the movie won't be a rehash of the games but will stick to the canon while having an original storyline.

The "Five Nights at Freddy's" games take place inside a fictional pizza restaurant where an animatronic animal that is part of the house band goes on a murdering rampage at night. Players who are locked inside try to survive the night by tracking the animatronics through the cameras. The main character, Mike Schmidt, is the night watch security guard at the restaurant.

No premiere date has been announced for the live action adaptation of "Five Nights at Freddy's" as of the moment.
