'FIFA 18' release date, gameplay reviews: Football series welcomed back with good feedback

Fans of football video games will be pleased to hear that "FIFA 18" has arrived and the reviews have been positive.

One of the things that fans can expect from the game is the features of its career mode. The transfer negotiations have become more interactive. Before, players had to submit an offer and then wait for an email response. Now, transfer negotiations are conducted in real-time with the goal of making it a part of an interactive cutscene.

In its review, GameSpot gave the game a 7/10, adding that "FIFA 18" offers a variety of game modes, constant updates of the Weekly and Daily Objectives, and commentaries anchored on real-world events. The publication said that the game captures the world of football and translates it confidently into the video game.

However, it was noted that "FIFA 18" still has lag issues, especially when compared to another football video game, "PES 2018," which gives a more fluid and satisfying gameplay.

Electronic Arts (EA) Sports, the game's developer, has been praised for making a lot of improvements. However, there's still a lot of leg room for the game in terms of enhancement in the coming years for the "FIFA" franchise to be on top again.

Meanwhile, the DailyStar's review said that "FIFA 18" has given the fans a decent football game packed with fun matches for both Local Area Network (LAN) players and those on the go. The game provides a great depiction football games for players playing solo or with their friends, making "FIFA 18" the best football game available for the Nintendo Switch right now.

"FIFA 18" was released worldwide on Sept. 29. Others were able to score advanced copies via the game's subscription-based gaming service EA Access while some managed to pre-order the title for early access. Consumers can avail the Ronaldo Edition which retails for $80. On the other hand, the Icon Edition costs $100.
