Sherlock Holmes will return to solve more crimes and mysteries as well as battle his inner demons in the fourth season of "Elementary" this coming fall.

With the TV series' third season ending with Sherlock continuing to battle against his demons, season 4 will return with more exciting surprises for fans everywhere.

Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) and Dr. Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) will be joined by a new cast that will surely make things more interesting for our heroes.

John Noble ("The Lord of the Rings") will be joining the cast of "Elementary" as a regular on the show, portraying the role of Sherlock's rich, estranged father. His arrival will not be something that Sherlock would love, especially given that he has a bad past with his father. Sherlock's father has been away for quite a long time and his sudden appearance may cause tension between them.

Aidan Quinn will reprise his role as Captain Thomas Gregson and Jon Michael Hill as Detective Marcus Bell.

Although not much is known yet about the upcoming season, "Elementary" executive producer Robert Doherty gave TV Line his story on why Sherlock's father would suddenly appear on the show.

"I think it's time. I would very much like to meet Dad and explore this very complicated dynamic that we've been alluding to over the last two seasons. There's a lot to get out of a longer-term story about Sherlock and his father and everything between them," the executive producer said.

"Elementary" season 4, episode 1 will be about the arrival of Sherlock's father to New York City following his son's relapse.

"Elementary" is a modern day, American crime drama series that portrays the life of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's character, Sherlock Holmes. It first launched on CBS in September 2012.

Season 4 of "Elementary" will premiere on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.
