"Downton Abbey" aired its series finale in the United Kingdom on Christmas Day, and according to Deadline, the episode was watched by 6.9 million viewers for a 28.6 share on ITV in the overnights.

While the Brits have found out what happens to Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery), Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael), and Anna (Joanne Froggatt) and the rest of the inhabitants of the Grantham Estate in the finale, U.S. residents will have to wait for a few more days until the last season of the series airs.

Ahead of the finale, Variety published some behind-the-scenes photos from the final season, and it was revealed Henry Talbot (Matthew Goode), Lady Mary's suitor, will be returning to win her heart.

"Her love life is pretty quiet. And then Henry Talbot shows up. It's an interesting dance," said Dockery to Variety.

Hugh Bonneville, who plays Lord Robert Crawley, told the magazine that though he had his own issues in the past as a character, this season, Cora (Elizabeth McGovern) and Robert will be "good as a team as a whole."

Lady Edith will have a new job as she is now the head of the newspaper business owned by her late husband.

"It's interesting to see how the men of the 1920s respond to being bossed around by a woman," said Carmichael.

As for some finale spoilers, Bertie Pelham (Harry Hadden-Paton) realizes that he can't live without Edith and will win her back with some help from Mary. Lady Mary will also show a newfound maturity and emotional growth as she tries to improve her relationship with her sister.

Also in the last episode, a major character will be pregnant, but she won't be revealing this to anybody so as not to steal the focus from Edith on her wedding date. Meanwhile, someone gives birth in Mary's room, but that person won't be the Lady herself.

"Downton Abbey" season 6 premieres in the U.S. on Jan. 3 on PBS.
