"Doctor Strange" already has an impressive cast that includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, but the upcoming Marvel film isn't stopping there as a new report claims that Rachel McAdams is being offered a role.
According to Heroic Hollywood, McAdams, who currently stars in season 2 of "True Detective," will play the film's female lead. No details were provided as to which character the actress would be playing, but there is a strong possibility that McAdams would play Clea, the courageous daughter of Umar and the niece of Dormammu, who is also skilled in the mystical arts. She comes from the Dark Dimension and helps Doctor Strange in many of his battles and, eventually, they fall in love and she becomes his wife.
Cinemablend has other theories as to who "The Notebook" star will be playing in the upcoming Marvel film. McAdams could also play Victoria Bentley, a woman who has feelings for Doctor Strange, but because he is in love with Clea, the two never get to explore a romantic relationship.
Another possible character the actress could play is Morgana Blessing, a well-known author who studied the occult for years. After following Stephen Strange during a bank robbery, she grows close to him and they almost become lovers. Although things don't work out with him, Morgana eventually falls in love with his brother, Victor. Cinemablend speculates that if McAdams plays Morgana, then she will be the one to set the path for Stephen to become Doctor Strange, and if Marvel adjusts the source material, then she could be his love interest.
Cumberbatch has been cast as Doctor Strange, Swinton will be playing The Ancient One, and Ejiofor got the role of Baron Mordo. McAdams' casting would reportedly be the last of the major roles as "Doctor Strange" will begin filming in London this fall.
"Doctor Strange" premieres on Nov. 4, 2016.
