Duggar news: Jill and Derick Dillard say Central America ministry is 'inadequate,' but God finds a way to draw people to Himself

Derick and Jill Dillard recently provided an update on their Christian ministry in Central America. They have been busy helping a team from the U.S. organise a women's conference, orphanage visit, home visits, football tournament, and medical clinic visit over the past few months, all the while preaching the Gospel to the people and caring for their infant son Israel David.

Doing all of these things has made the Dillard family from the new TLC reality show "Jill and Jessa: Counting On" realise that their ministry is so "inadequate." Thankfully though, "God has used so many different unsuspecting circumstances and methods to draw people to Himself and work out His plan that nobody can take credit for it but God himself," they write on their blog.

The Christian couple feel amazed how God uses their imperfections and inabilities to work out His grand plan, and they often have to remind themselves that good things happen whenever they submit their full obedience to God.

For his part, Derick says God paved the way for him to share the Gospel to two individuals named Rigo and Alex. Rigo had been a victim of a roadside shooting last December, shares Derick, and he is now paralysed from a bullet that hit his spinal cord.

"He remains at home recovering, but because of his immobility, he has also had much more time to think about the mysteries of life in the wake of the shooting," says Derick. "God has opened up great conversations with him, and I was even able to visit him with my mom while she was here. Recently, I've taken Christian movies for him to watch that serve as a springboard into Bible-centered conversations."

As for Alex, they met up at the hardware store and began talking about God. Alex professes that Christ is Lord, but after his conversation with Derick, he expressed the desire to attend church more and even conduct regular Bible studies in order to deepen his relationship with God.

"God has continued to open doors for evangelism in various places in our area, in ways that we would never expect," says Derick.
