'Destiny 2' news: Update trades one problem for another

"Destiny 2's" developers may be hard at work in patching up the game's oversights, but while the recent patch has apparently solved the issue, it also gave birth to another.

A hotfix for patch 1.06 of the first-person shooter (FPS) has been rolled out by Bungie, the game's developer. The hotfix was supposed to fix performance degradation being caused by a bug in the game and making the rosters hidden. The said bug was fixed, and players could now see their clan mates' names with no performance decrease after leaving the game running. However, a new performance issue has arisen in lieu of the first one; now, a sever one-second stuttering happens, and it is most frequent during busy public events in the online multiplayer shooter.

The performance issue even happens to gamers with good hardware for the game, meaning even a smooth 60 frames per second (FPS) gameplay may still get interrupted by the prolonged stutter. This is a costly bug and may even cause affected players to lose their current gameplay sessions, lose their kills, or get killed unjustly.

Some players are flocking to Bungie's forum for "Destiny 2," requesting or demanding that the developers roll back the hotfix since the stuttering problem was seemingly much worse than the clan roster not showing up or the performance decrease over time.

Good news for affected players is that Bungie has acknowledged the issue and may be working on another hotfix right now. The developers have also encouraged players to report further encounters with the problem, though, for clarity's sake, they advised the complainants to include a DxDiag input and the full running process list of their PCs, as a well as the specifications of their hardware. This is to ensure a faster solution, as well as to isolate the problem.

It is not yet clear when Bungie plans to release the next hotfix which will solve the stuttering issue on the PC. Players are advised to stay tuned, and hopefully, the next hotfix will not introduce a new performance issue.
