"Dead Space" will not be staying empty for long and might soon get occupied with players, as the video game has been announced as a free title recently.

This means the original "Dead Space" released back in 2008 will be free for everyone to play now. This move was a part of publisher Electronic Arts' (EA) "On the House" program where old games are given away for free in the company's online market platform called Origin. This was not the first time "Dead Space" became part of the "On the House" program of EA though, as it can be recalled that "Dead Space" was the first game to be given away for free during a limited time span.

In order to get "Dead Space" for free right now, players simply need to create an Origin account if they don't already have one, and head to the game's page on the market platform then click on "Add to Game Library." This makes the game free permanently, though the acquisition period is only for a limited time indefinitely, so players should hurry before the freebie disappears.

By comparison, "Dead Space" on Steam, the largest online game market right now is selling it for $10 to $20 depending on the location, not much these days but Origin's deal is still good if one is on a tight budget, plus it's free with nothing to lose and no strings attached.

For those unfamiliar with "Dead Space," it is actually one of the most acclaimed horror games of all time due to its overall gameplay and presentation. The game is quite familiar for players who have watched the movie "Event Horizon" and "Alien" making it quite a unique experience for its time period back in 2008.

"Dead Space" features space engineer Isaac Clarke getting stranded in the USG Ishimura, a massive mining spacecraft designed to crack asteroids obtain valuable resources. Clarke is not alone, however, as the previous crew of the ship has been transformed into Necromorphs, grotesque reanimated corpses who have become berserk due to an alien artifact the Ishimura dug up.

"Dead Space" is now available for free to all PC gamers on Origin.
