Production is underway for season 6 of "Dance Moms," and Abby Lee Miller took to Twitter to share the exciting news. On Oct. 7, the dance studio owner tweeted, "Started filming season 6 today of #DanceMoms! Get excited!!!"

"Dance Moms" spoiler site Dancemoms.wikia has the scoop on the first two episodes of the new season, and according to the website, the dancers took part in their first competition for the season in episode 1.

Abby and her team made up of Mackenzie Ziegler, Nia Frazier, Kendall Vertes, JoJo Siwa, and Brynn Rumfallo reportedly competed in the Sheer Talent Special Edition Competition in Glendale, California. The Abby Lee Dance Company Los Angeles group placed first in the specialty group dance titled "The Girl in the Plastic Bubble." Brynn also took first place for her solo, "The Coronation," in the Pre-Teen Division.

Meanwhile, while Miller's star student Maddie Ziegler was listed in the competition's program, the star reportedly did not compete with her team. It is said that the 13-year-old's absence was due to the fact that she was filming "The Book of Henry" in New York City.

For the second episode of the season, it appears that the the group didn't do so well when they attended the New York Dance Experience in Calabasas, California. For their group dance called "Hungry Like the Wolf," ALDC placed first in the Senior Division but second overall, and Kendall's solo, "In The Mirror," earned her third place in the Junior Division.

Mackenzie's solo, an acrobatic jazz number called "I Just Want to Stay Home and Eat Chips" earned her a fourth place award in the Junior Division. Meanwhile, Nia's solo, inspired by Taraji P. Henson's character Cookie in "Empire," earned her a second place trophy in the Teen Division. The website reports that Maddie was still absent from the competition as she continued filming the drama in NYC.

Season 6 of "Dance Moms" is slated to premiere in 2016 on Lifetime.
