"Shift Quantum" is getting ready to shift into the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 (PS4), Nintendo Switch and PC, as the developers of the game have announced a release date of Spring 2018.
Developer and publisher Fishing Cactus has revealed that they will soon be releasing the game sometime soon on the said platforms. It is worth noting that "Shift Quantum" is an indie game with its developers gaining budget through independent sources and crowdfunding, which makes the multiplatform release all the more impressive.
Though, this is not as impressive as the game itself, which is a mind-bending puzzle game that makes use of certain science fiction (sci-fi) themes as its core gameplay mechanic. The game will feature a unique puzzling mechanic called "shifting" in which the players must invert the game world in order to make an escape route with negative spaces.
To do this, players will have to be creative and mathematical with where they push solid boxes in the game world that can turn into hollow passageways once the players invert the environment, though this also makes the previously empty and open space solid and impassable. Players essentially can turn obstacles in the game into escape opportunities to free their characters from an apparent imprisonment.
The world will then be presented in a monochromatic theme but with futuristic cyberpunk elements, making for a unique blend of atmosphere uncommon in today's puzzle and sci-fi games.
What makes "Shift Quantum" a legitimate brain exercise is that it was actually created by Axon Vertigo, the world's leading authority and trusted voice in cerebral programming that studies brain functions to transform them into artificial intelligence (AI) programs. Apparently, Axon wants to better understand the how the brain works regarding pattern recognition and creative thinking, while the people get their desired happiness, hence "Shift Quantum," since it is one of the best media for testing brain function.
Players will be able to test themselves using "Shift Quantum" once the game gets released sometime during Spring this year.
