'Counting On' news: Show faces cancellation threat due to low viewership

While the number of children in the Duggar Family is ever increasing, their television show's viewership is not, as "Counting On" is suffering from a steady decline of viewers.

Josh Duggar's scandalous affairs may have been the culprit in the show losing its traction. This is despite the second chance that the family got for their show following the trouble that Josh had caused. The show's ratings have reportedly plummeted after Josh's sexual abuse allegations first came to the scene.

Travel and Living Channel (TLC) has since given another chance for the family's show to continue as long as Josh, the eldest of the Duggar children, will no longer be shown. "Counting On," however, may be facing the end of its lifespan as it may not be renewed for another season. It is possible that the show may have just been filming in secret, as they have done so in the past.

"As of right now, a new season has not been announced. We will let you know as soon as it is," says a statement on the Duggar Family blog.

Despite this, the season finale ended on a happier note, as it featured the wedding of Joe Duggar and Kendall Caldwell after months of planning the ceremony. After the wedding, the newlyweds drove in a red monster truck that had been designed with spray-painted pink and yellow phrases like "Finally Hitched" and "Honeymoon Bound."

"Counting On" is an American reality television show that has aired on the cable channel TLC since 2015. The show is a spin-off of "19 Kids and Counting" where Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar proudly display their children: nine girls and 10 boys whose names all begin with the letter "J." "Counting On," made following the initial molestation allegations against their eldest child, Josh, has had six seasons and 39 total episodes.

Jim Bob and Michelle are devout Baptists who do not believe in birth control, hence the number of their offsprings. No reports yet of the renewal or cancellation of the show has been confirmed yet, but fans are advised to stay tuned.
