After the ending of "Code Geass" season 2 broke the hearts of many around the world, fans didn't really expect anything more from the series. They didn't expect the production to announce that there will be a third season, which picks up where season 2 left off. Many speculated on the reasoning behind the creative team's decision to revive the critically-acclaimed anime and Johnny Young Bosch, who was the voice behind Lelouch in the English dub version of the series, had a few words to say about it.

"It's just hard to tell really... With a show like 'Code Geass,' it was really popular and made lots of money, and it just ended and it continued to make money after that. They (the company behind the franchise) were like hmm, maybe we should bring it back. That's the nature of it right? It's a risk. I hope it's going to be great! But you never know," said Bosch at the Anime Triad Con held in North Carolina, as quoted by Comic Book.

Many fans agree that the "Code Geass" season 2 ending was the perfect way to cap off such an emotion-rich and intellectual anime series. Lelouch took on the hate of the world and met his demise at the hands of Suzaku, who was disguised as Zero, in order to show that people that the source of hate had finally been disposed of.

The heart-wrenching ending of the popular Japanese anime series had fans all over the world talking about it for a long time and to suddenly overshadow that success with a third installment, many are understandably confused, especially when it was announced that Lelouch will make a comeback.

If the revival of "Code Geass" is only for money, the writers will have to come up with a storyline as perfect as the first two installments of the anime series. As to whether or not they can live up to this pressure, only time will tell.

The release date of "Code Geass" season 3 is still currently unknown. While waiting for word on it, fans can stream the first two seasons online.
