"Civilization VI" is about to have a holy experience, as its Fall update will include a revamp of the in-game Religion mechanic.

Firaxis, the developer of "Civilization VI," has announced significant changes in its Fall update for the game, most notably, the way Religion works. Religion will now be more fleshed out along with new belief systems and new units, with the purpose of spreading whichever religion the players choose to adopt for their Civilizations.

Two new Pantheons or churches will be introduced to the game, along with new Founder, Follower, Enhancer, and Worship Beliefs. The new unit, Warrior Monk, can both spread religion and fight for the players.

Religious combat has also been revamped, and its changes will involve religious units being able to exert Zone of Control, as well as receive Flank and Support bonuses in-game, similar to how military units work. The Guru support unit will also be able to heal nearby religious groups, and it seems that they would also be necessary given the rework to religious combat.

Apart from the Religion system rework for the game, the update will also be introducing numerous bug fixes, as well as user-interface (UI) improvements. The said UI improvements will include an overhaul to the Religion Lens to improve its stability and readability. Additionally, religion indicators on units will also be introduced in the form of flags, helping the players to minimize guesswork as to which religion each group has adopted or converted to.

"Civilization VI" is a turn-based strategy game, and it is the sixth in the franchise by Sid Meier. In "Civilization," players will attempt to build empires from scratch and have these stand the test of time, as well as endure other civilizations by either engaging in diplomacy or war with them. Players are given plenty of technology, civics, and military options as the game progress from the Stone Age to the Information Age.

"Civilization VI" is out now and is available for PC. No exact release date has been announced for the Fall update yet, but the developers advise players to stay tuned.
