Christian Surfers International Conference to be Held in France

A wave of sports is sweeping across Europe this summer. After the Athens Olympic games 2004 ends this month, another hit is going to take place in France in late September. The 6th International Conference for Christian Surfers is going to be held at Hossegor, France on 20- 24th September.

The conference is for Christian Surfers' ministers and also missionaries from other surfer groups. Entitled “Grondswell”, it will provide an opportunity for training surfers to create a new wave of missions marching towards global coastlines.

One of the keynote speakers for mission lectures is George Verwer, the founder of Operation Mobilisation which is a ministry of evangelism, discipleship training and church planting. Experienced Bible teacher Britt Merrick of Channel Islands Surfboards, a Calvary Chapel pastor, is also invited to give bible lectures.

The first French version of the ‘Surfers Bible’ is to be released at the conference as well. The bible gives Christian Surfer members a basic guide on Christian faith.

'Christian Surfers' was established in the late 70’s by a group of Australian teenage surfers who had a vision for reaching out to other surfers. 'Christian Surfers' has missions in 15 surfing nations, over 400 volunteer workers, some 20 staff and a united international body that transcends denominations and surfing backgrounds.
