Meb Keflezighi became the first American man in 31 years to win the Boston Marathon. Keflezighi crossed the finishing line in just 2 hours, 8 minutes and 37 seconds, 11 seconds ahead of Kenya's Wilson Chebet. His time was 31 seconds faster than his previous personal record. The 38-year-old won the 118th Boston Marathon, a year on after the tragic bombing incident.

The 2014 Boston Marathon will take place Monday, April 21, in Boston, Mass., days after the anniversary of the tragic Boston bombing that took place last year.

Last year's incident has not deterred the hearts of those taking part in this year's event, as the even continues to grow. This year, millions of viewers are expected to tune in on television and online to watch the coverage of the Boston Marathon.

This year's participants have grown to up to 36,000 runners, with up to 1 million spectators lining the streets of Boston to watch the event.

The Boston Marathon is 26 miles and 385 yards, and will cover Route 135, Route 16, Route 30 and streets of Boston.

After last year's incident in which Boston bombers planted two bombs, killing three spectators and injuring 200 people, security has been tightened to 3,500 law enforcement personnel expected to line the streets, in addition to bomb-sniffing dogs, metal detectors and cameras. The FBI SWAT team is also expected to be patrol the area.

The Boston Marathon will start at 9 a.m. ET and will be televised on CBS, WBZ-TV, and Universal Sports Network. A free live stream coverage of the marathon will be available here. 

Radio coverage will be available between 930 a.m. to 12.30 pm. ET.

Universal Sports be providing coverage from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m ET. UniversalSports.com will also be providing a free finish line web cam, which will be available for viewers at 10:30 a.m. The footage of all runners crossing the finishing line will be available on the website for the entire day.
