'Borderlands 3' news: Game to include Elon Musk's new flamethrower

Elon Musk is starting to get ubiquitous with his achievements, as the upcoming "Borderlands 3" game may actually include one of his inventions in-game.

Randy Pitchford from Gearbox Games, developer of "Borderlands 3," has announced via Twitter that they will be including Musk's new invention in the game sequel. This invention comes in the form of a sentient flamethrower whose safeword is "cryptocurrency" and has an included blockchain.

Pitchford stated that the weapon is too perfect to not be included in "Borderlands 3" or any other video game for that matter. The developers are also quite serious in his enthusiasm for the prospect and even contacted Musk himself to provide the flavor and description text for the flamethrower. In addition, they have stated that they might just take it from some of Musk's tweets.

Musk replied "sure," which means his flamethrower will definitely included in-game, and it will probably be even one of the novelty weapons in the upcoming shooter. Apparently, this also marks the first time that Gearbox has indicated that they are now working on a new "Borderlands" game since it has almost been four years after the last game titled "Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel."

Meanwhile, Musk's actual real life flamethrower has been gaining much traction, where there have already been as many as 10,000 pre-orders for the device despite costing about $500 and having no actual household use since it is more suited for combat and extermination. Musk himself even stated that the flamethrower was not a good idea and were it up to him, he would not buy one, though he also bundled a $30 fire extinguisher with the flamethrower.

"Obviously, a flamethrower is a super terrible idea. Definitely, don't buy one," warned Musk, though it appears the warning fell on deaf ears. Those interested in pre-ordering Musk's flamethrower can visit the official website here

Elsewhere, no word is out yet on "Borderlands 3's" expected release, though speculation point to as much as 90 percent of the development studio working on the sequel.
