The highly anticipated film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is coming to theaters next year, and there are high expectations for the movie as it will feature the two most popular characters of DC Comics. Moreover, the film is expected to improve things over at Warner Bros. as the studio had some films this year that underperformed in the box office.

Speaking to Variety, Ben Affleck, who plays the Dark Knight in the film, admitted that there was a lot of pressure on the film to succeed.

"I think there is a ton of pressure on it," Affleck told the magazine, adding that he would be lying if he said that there wasn't any.

Warner Bros. had some challenges this year as some of the studio's films didn't do as well as expected. Earlier this year, "Jupiter Ascending," the sci-fi film starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis, earned only a worldwide total of $183.9 million against a budget of $175 million. Last month, "Pan," which was supposed to provide a fresh spin on the story of Peter Pan, received negative reviews from critics and also didn't do well at the box office, earning a total of $107.8 million against a budget of $150 million.

Affleck believes that the upcoming superhero film will help launch a turnaround at Warner Bros., saying that in 2016, the studio is going to "have a great year" as Warner gears up to go head to head against the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"They are now developing…probably the single most under-exploited IP asset in the entertainment business, the DC comic world," Affleck said. "And now they have started to exploit that and you are going to see that blossom. And, when it does, it's going to be massive."

Variety reports that Affleck's commitment to the DC world is large as he has reportedly rearranged his filming schedule to make time for another DC movie, believed to be "The Batman." He is also expected to be in the "Justice League" film, which is said to start filming next year.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" premieres on March 25, 2016.
