'Assassin's Creed' latest rumors: Next big sequel to take place in China's dynasty era

The next "Assassin's Creed" game might take the adventure to Asia — China, to be specific — as rumors suggest that it is set to take place during the period of dynasties in the country, which is basically more than 3,000 years of history.

It is not yet known in which specific dynasty though, but it is expected to have taken place later than the setting of "Assassin's Creed: Origins," since that game was supposed to chronicle the conception of the Assassin Brotherhood. Since that supposedly took place during the same timeline Julius Caesar and Cleopatra existed, it can be assumed that the next game's setting will take place no earlier than the end of the before Christ (B.C.) period.

As such, the next sequel could well be named "Assassin's Creed: Dynasty." The information was taken directly from a post on the PlayStation Universe though it is quite unreliable at best. Although the codename might have the word "dynasty" in it, there are a lot of other dynasties in the world that might serve as the source material for the "Assassin's Creed" franchise.

For all fans know, it could also take place in Japan with its imperial and feudal dynasties, though this would be a lot less grand compared with China's over three millennia of massive dynasties. The said information also came from a source from Bangalore-based animation studio Technicolor, which has worked with Ubisoft in the past. Still, the said anonymous source apparently no longer works at Technicolor, so the information about the progress of the supposed game should be treated with a grain of salt.

Still, this was not the franchise's first venture in the Orient, as there has been a smaller, non-AAA "Assassin's Creed" game that has taken place in China such as "Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China." Should Ubisoft continue this existing storyline, the protagonist for the next game might be a female assassin named Shao Jun, who is the sole student of Ezio Auditore, the protagonist of "Assassin's Creed 2" and two other AAA sequels after it.

At the moment though, nothing is confirmed and anything is possible for the "Assassin's Creed" franchise.
