'Arrow' season 4 news: New promo hints at Felicity's fate

When fans last saw Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Oliver (Stephen Amell), the two were attacked by gunmen while inside a limo. Although Oliver was able to evade Damien Darhk's hired hands, Felicity was shot and the final scene of the episode titled "Dark Waters" saw Oliver cradling his bleeding fiancée. Fans feared that this might be the end for Felicity. And now, a new promo hints at her fate when "Arrow" returns next year.

In the promo, Oliver does all he can to find Damien in order to seek revenge for what happened to Felicity. Diggle gives his support and says, "Whatever your play is, I got your back."

The Green Arrow is seen fighting off Damien's goons and questions one of them in the villain's whereabouts. Later, Thea tells Oliver that Felicity is out of surgery, but it appears as though she is still in danger. Thea says, "They didn't say what was wrong."

Oliver goes to the hospital and sits beside Felicity's mother, who is trying her best to control her tears. In the end of the clip, he is seen wearing a dark suit and standing on top of a grave, and Oliver says, "I'm gonna kill him."

From the looks of the promo, it appears that The CW show is killing off a major character on the series. While Felicity's fate is unclear at this point, there has been a lot of speculation about the character, and it has been suggested that Felicity will live but she won't be the same anymore.

Both Cinemablend and Moviepilot presented a theory in which Felicity will turn into longtime DC hero Oracle. In the comic books, Barbara Gordon was shot in the hip by the Joker. It left her paralyzed from the waist down. Barbara then turns into the Oracle, a tech genius who helps the Justice League and Birds of Prey.

To learn about what happens to Felicity, tune in to "Arrow" when the show returns on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 8pm on The CW.
