AMI Olympic Outreach Update

The world’s focus is now on the Athens Olympic Games. While countries are competing for medals in a wide range of competitions both on the ground and under the water, evangelists from all over the world with a heavenly sportsmanship have been engaging in the unseen spiritual battle of evangelism in Athens. An outreach team from Action Ministries International (AMI) Sports Chaplain Ministry, an American-based organisation, reported on the work they's carried out over the past few days.

AMI have used the one-on-one evangelism approach. Starting on 13th August, the well-trained team of 16 evangelists has been meandering through the city of Athens and sharing with strangers their experiences in Christ.

This is in fact already the ninth Olympic Games that AMI has capitalised on for its outreach initiative. With the precious experience and intensive training, the evangelists use two special tools. The first one is the uniquely designed Olympic pin named the “Jesus Pin”. Secondly, it is a discipleship manual for new believers - the “Gold Medal Edition” of “The Race”.

The tiny “Jesus Pin” has been embedded with Gospel messages of salvation, allowing the evangelists to “build an instant communication” and to “leave a legacy”. Many young people are attracted by the pin and turned to God after listening to the Gospel from the evangelists. The colour and design of the pin tells the plan of salvation:

BLACK - represents the SIN in our lives apart from Jesus. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

RED - represents the BLOOD THAT JESUS SHED to pay the penalty for our sin. “But God demonstrates His love for us in this: while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

WHITE - represents PURITY. When we confess our sins and ask Jesus to take control of our lives, HE FORGIVES OUR SINS and takes away the punishment we deserve. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

GREEN - represents the GROWTH towards becoming more like Jesus. “Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” (1 Cor 15:58)

GOLD - represents ETERNAL LIFE with God for eternity. “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.” (John 5:24)

Continuously, new souls of different countries are coming back to the Christian family. Testimonies from evangelists sharing their stories of saving souls are available on the website everyday. The mission trip will last for 17 days in total and will end on 29th August.
