The theme for "American Horror Story" season 7 might have been hinted at during the season finale of "American Horror Story: Roanoke."

Fans of the critically acclaimed horror anthology series might have guessed what Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have in store for the next installment of "American Horror Story" after releasing a short clip on the show's official Twitter account.

The clip focused on the calm waves of the ocean, but it was interjected briefly by the image of scary-looking stick dolls hanging on top of a tree. The clip came out with the caption "The monsters are all gone. #AHSRoanoke"

This could mean that the next installment of "American Horror Story" will center on the events happening near a body of water. It could be an interesting choice for the creators of the show since they still have yet to delve into a nautical theme since the series started in 2011.

Other reports also pointed out a minor scene towards the end of "American Horror Story: Roanoke" episode 10, where a toy ship was knocked over by one of the spirits living in the creepy North Carolina mansion. The spirit used the toy ship to get everyone's attention and make everyone jump inside the house. But the camera lingered for a while on the miniature ship, which made fans believed that it might have a major significance in the series next season.

The series creators have yet to announce what they plan for the plot of "American Horror Story" season 7, but Murphy already revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly back in September that he already has an idea for the new season.

Murphy revealed that he came up with the idea unexpectedly, just like what happened to him in the past seasons. "Then I was thinking of this other thing and I literally sat up and bed and said 'That's it!' Whenever it happens it's such a relief because it's so much pressure," the series co-creator said. He also mentioned that the next season will be unexpected. "It's also a narratively strange idea," he also stated. "I've already started to call people saying, 'Put this on your calendar.' It's a good one."

The seventh season of "American Horror Story" is expected to air sometime in 2017.
