"Agent Carter" is coming back for another season as Peggy (Hayley Atwell) and Jarvis (James D'Arcy) team up to investigate Isodyne Energy in line with a mysterious murder case in Los Angeles. And while Marvel TV shows barely have any connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, season 2 of the ABC show will have a tie-in with an upcoming Marvel movie — "Doctor Strange."

Speaking with Comic Book Resources, showrunners Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas revealed that one of Howard Stark's (Dominic Cooper) inventions, the Darkforce, will be featured on the show and explained how the device ties in "Agent Carter" with "Doctor Strange."

Fazekas explained that Isodyne is a company that they invented which is based in part on actual companies such as Radiodyne, General Atomic, and the beginnings of the Jet Propulsion Lab, which were all in Los Angeles in the 1940s and were developing the space program as well as nuclear bombs.

"That's what Isodyne is, and what you'll learn is that they were involved in the nuclear testing out in the desert when they were testing the, at the time they were calling it the atom bomb—and one of these tests didn't go as expected," Fazekas said.

The showrunner said that viewers will learn more about it in season 2, and when Peggy and Jarvis come upon the Darkforce, they name it Zero Matter because they've never seen it before.

"That's our tie-in to the 'Doctor Strange' universe, and also to 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' because you've seen it in 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' as well," she said.

Fazekas said that in the Marvel comic books, the Darkforce affects people in different ways and that it has created some superheroes and villains. The effect of the Darkforce varies from person to person, as sometimes it could give one powers, while other times it could kill.

According to Marvel Wikia, the Darkforce is also known as the Darkforce Dimension and that some heroes can tap into this energy naturally, while humans can learn to call it up through magic or technology. Known users of the Darkforce in the Marvel comics are Asylum, Darkstar, Quagmire, and Vanisher, among others.

"Agent Carter" returns with a two-hour premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
