3 Bible verses to help you be bold in Christ

"...the righteous are bold as a lion." (Proverbs 28:1) Pixabay

As God's people, Christians should be the boldest and most courageous of all, particularly when it comes to speaking and doing what is Godly.

Sadly, not all of us Christians are as bold and brave as we ought to be.

Why should we be bold?

Boldness, which literally means "freedom from timidity" or "liberty" according to Webster's 1828 dictionary, is a basic character trait every Christian should possess.

Boldness is necessary for us to be able to do the things that God wants us to do. It is needed when we approach people to preach the Gospel to them. It is necessary when we are going to speak up for those who can't speak for themselves.

Boldness allows us to draw near to God when we need Him.

Christ's sacrificial atonement allows all of God's people to be bold. Think about these:

  • His bloodshed paid the price for our forgiveness
  • He made the way for us to be reconciled and restored to the Father
  • He gave those who believe in Him the right to become children of God
  • He made us sit with Him in the heavenlies when He resurrected
  • He continually intercedes for us night and day
  • His Holy Spirit dwells in us who believe in Him
  • In Him the promises of God are "yes and amen"
  • His love can never be separated from us no matter what
  • He is Lord of lords and King of kings, yet He calls us His friends
  • His stripes purchased our healing
  • He said signs and wonders will follow those who believe Him

...and more!

There are more than a thousand reasons for us to be bold in Christ, and all of them can be found in the Bible. Sadly, so many of us Christians believe the lie that if we are Christian, we ought to be timid or bashful.

That's a lie!

Here are some Bible verses that will teach us boldness in Christ.

2 Timothy 1:6-9

"...Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began..."

2 Corinthians 1:20-22

"For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee."

2 Corinthians 5:18-21

"Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."
