Samsung Galaxy S7 update: Samsung to launch Galaxy S7 Olympic Edition?

 Samsung USA

Rumors say that Samsung will be adding an Active version in their newly released Galaxy S7 lineup. But it seems that aside from the new iteration, the South Korea-based tech giant is gunning for another addition – this time a special and exclusive edition.

An exclusive from SamMobile stated that Samsung is in the process of coming out with a Galaxy S7 Olympic Edition. Reportedly, an inside source said that the new handset is code-named "Hero2_Olympic_edition" in internal documents. While this is not a direct confirmation that the new device is part of the flagship lineup, the model name itself is already a hint – a similar edition in the Galaxy S6 lineup was internally named "Hero."

Samsung has yet to confirm the details, but the industry follower said that the tech giant may be following up with an earlier statement. Samsung revealed previously that it will be working to capture a number of big world events, particularly the next Olympics. In addition, the tech company is also said to be working to tie in these events with virtual reality. According to rumors, the exclusive Olympics Edition of the Galaxy S7 may have this feature, bundling a special-edition flagship iteration with a Samsung Gear VR and even coming out with Olympics-related VR content already pre-installed in the flagship handset.

However, Samsung has yet to confirm the rumors, although fans may expect some details to come out soon as the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro is scheduled for August.

The Galaxy S7 Olympics Edition is just another rumored addition to the Galaxy S7 lineup. Allegedly, Samsung is also in the process of putting together a more rugged and tougher version of the flagship iteration and will come out with a Galaxy S7 Active soon, with military-grade proofing specs aside from top-tier internals.
