Paul Walker would have turned 42 last Sept. 12 if he had not been in a car crash two years ago.

However, his memory lives on as his daughter, 16-year-old Meadow, paid tribute when she announced the launch of a foundation built in honor of the late actor.

Meadow took to Instagram last Saturday the announcement that she's starting the Paul Walker Foundation, which aims to provide grants and scholarships to researchers in the field of marine biology.

On the official site of the foundation, it stated that one of the ways that Meadow can accomplish the mission to "do good" is to help "ocean leaders of tomorrow become beacons in the fight to protect our oceans, wildlife, and ourselves."

"I wanted to start this foundation because I want to share that piece of him with the world," a part of her post on Instagram read.

Walker was most popular for his role in the "Fast and Furious" franchise. He died in a car accident back in November 2013.

Not only was he a famous actor, but he was also known to take part in National Geographic Channel's documentaries on sharks. Walker had studied marine biology before he joined the movie industry.

His death shocked not only many of his fans worldwide but also the entire entertainment industry. One in particular was his best friend and "Fast and Furious" co-star Vin Diesel, who even named his third daughter Pauline, born this year, in his honor.

Walker is also a philanthropist and his family is continuing on his legacy. Brother Cody Walker, who continued some scenes for "Furious 7," became brand manager for Reach Out Worldwide in 2014, according to CNN.

The nonprofit organization was co-founded by the late actor in 2010 in Haiti, when an earthquake hit and devastated the region.

Last Saturday, People reported that Cody honored his brother's death by holding a small celebration. He was quoted saying, "I don't know anyone that loves the ocean as much as Paul did. It will always remind me of him. So, on his birthday, that's where I'll be."
