"Injustice 2" is one of the big titles that are being undertaken by game developer NetherRealm Studios. It is rumored that more characters are being added to the upcoming game's roster — one of which is Captain Cold.

Ed Boon, the game director, posted a poll a few months back, asking fans about a character they want to see in the upcoming game. Blue Beatle had the most votes, Swamp Thing took second place, and Captain Cold placed third. Back in June, an image of an "Injustice 2" shirt was posted, and it featured weapons of choice of the superheroes coming to the game. One of the images showed Cold Gun, Captain Cold's weapon of choice.

Fans speculate that Captain Cold will join the ranks of Superman, Supergirl, Aquaman, Atrocitus, Supergirl, and Gorilla Grodd. The last announcement happened back in July during the San Diego Comic-Con, where Boon confirmed that Wonder Woman and Blue Beatle are going to be added to the roster.

Boon also previously announced that a PC version of the game could likely arrive as well. However, there is still work to be performed for the port, so this will not come out soon. A mobile application and a digital comic series are also planned for the game sequel.

Earlier this month, Brian Goodman, marketing manager of NetherRealms, said in an interview with Game Reactor, via Xbox One UK, that "Injustice 2" will offer a different gameplay experience and a deeper storyline. Goodman said, "Structure-wise, it's going to be a little bit different, there's going to be definitely an opportunity to go through the story mode, and we're definitely going to leave them wanting to go through it perhaps a second time."

It was also revealed that there will be several single player modes for the game. The marketing big boss added, "We're going to have a number of single-player modes; we're really trying to round out our offerings for people who enjoy our games as single players, of course, a whole suite of online modes as well, both competitive and potentially some co-operative modes as well."

"Injustice 2" is expected to arrive in March 2017, but its exact release date remains unknown.
