Tech giant Microsoft unveiled its highly anticipated operating system during its event that took place in Redmond, Washington. Apart from featuring a "unified interface," which allows the operating system to remain the same on each and every platform ranging from desktop computers to smartphones, the company also revealed the prowess of its upcoming operating system when it comes to gaming.

Phil Spencer, the company's Xbox division's head, opened up the presentation by stating that the company's Xbox platform has found several ways to improve PC gaming. He also presented a new application that will be present in the Windows 10 platform, stating that this will make gaming sessions on the upcoming operating system "social and interactive."

The Xbox app will include the user's friends lists, and the messages section will allow different users to keep in contact with each other. It will also allow users to monitor each other's activities. However, perhaps the biggest improvement to the Windows 10 platform is the ability to take control of the Xbox console from the PC's interface. Users will be able to power on their console at will as well as stream their games from their console to their computer.

The DVR feature present in the application will allow users to view the last 30 seconds of gameplay from any Windows game. The Windows games will also include Steam titles from its database. There is also an editing option present in the Xbox app, where users will be able to edit their videos and share them across a myriad of social networks.

While the features present in the Xbox app are downright impressive, it all comes down to the official release date of the Windows 10 platform, which is expected to happen within this year.
