'Watch Dogs' 2 release news: creative director states sequel will be risky

"Watch Dogs" was delayed a number of times before it was finally released on all platforms on May 27 last year. Game developer Ubisoft's reasons for delaying the title on several occasions was so that the company could debug the game further in order to provide a fluid gaming experience to all gamers.

Unfortunately, things did not go in Ubisoft's favor as the open world action adventure video was still accompanied by a myriad of issues, and combined with repetitive gameplay elements and a weak storyline, resulted in the title receiving negative reviews, despite being one of the most anticipated games of 2014.

Jonathan Morin, who is the creative director of "Watch Dogs," told GamesTM that the game is far from perfect and that the studio would have its work cut out for it if a sequel is announced. Currently, Morin has denied any rumors that Ubisoft and its game developers would be working on a sequel, but has stated that if things start appearing bright, particularly toward the online side of things, then the studio and its staff will be compelled to begin working on a sequel.

Even though Ubisoft was able to sell 8 million copies of the game, the issues that accompanied the title dismantled the overall experience. Gamers complained about sporadic game stuttering issues that occurred on all platforms, especially the PC, even though their hardware requirements well exceeded what "Watch Dogs" required.

Even after Ubisoft released a series of patches to help alleviate the issues being experienced, gamers continued to remain unsatisfied with the company's efforts. While the game was praised for its visuals, the biggest commendation that the game received revolved around the core gameplay of the title, which is hacking. Combining the core gameplay feature under combat and non-combat situations; the immersion level was given applause. However, due to technical difficulties, "Watch Dogs" suffered a barrage of negative ratings.
