The Snapdragon 810 (Qualcomm), Exynos 7420 (Samsung), and A8 (Apple) happen to be the fastest mobile chipsets present in smartphones as of now. The A8 is currently present in Apple's flagship smartphones, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus while the Exynos 7420 is Samsung's homegrown chipset, meaning it is possible that it will not be found in any other device besides the company's own smartphone lineup. The Snapdragon 810 however, is present in a variety of devices, ranging from the HTC One M9, LG's G Flex 2 and Xiaomi's Mi Note Pro.

According to the latest benchmarking reports published by PhoneArena, the GeekBench 3 Single-Core test is dominated by Apple's iPhone 6 (1630), followed by the iPhone 6 Plus (1625), then the Galaxy S6 (1475) and finally, the HTC One M9 (1163). One of the reasons why the iPhone 6 is able to perform better compared to its larger screen brother is because the iPhone 6 Plus possesses a much denser screen resolution, which will automatically place the phablet sized smartphone at a disadvantage.

Moving on to Multi-Core test, the Galaxy S6 dominates the entire group of smartphones, according to the details present below:

  • Samsung Galaxy S5: 5004
  • HTC One M9: 3899
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 4: 3259.67
  • iPhone 6: 2927
  • iPhone 6 Plus: 2918

While the Galaxy S6 is able to dominate the AnTuTu benchmarking test against the likes of HTC's One M9, and Galaxy Note 4, the one department where HTC's flagship smartphone is able to gain a considerable lead is the graphics test. The Adreno 430 present in the Snapdragon 810 gives the remainder of the handsets, including the Galaxy S6, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus a run for its money. It is able to zip past its contenders, which means that if users are looking for a smartphone dedicated to give them exceptional performance in taxing gaming applications, the HTC One M9 will be the perfect product.
