While Samsung might not be a company where handsets receive the latest Android operating system update, it still manages to appease owners by branching out the update to its latest, previous generation and 'end of life' smartphones. On this occasion, the smartphones belonging to the company that are poised to receive Google newly released update are:

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 4
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 3
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 2
  • Samsung Galaxy Note Edge

Details of each smartphone getting the Lollipop 5.0 update are given below:

Galaxy Note 4:

The update was available for Sprint, which allowed users to download it on March 15, 2015. Currently, AT&T has stated that it is currently working on releasing an update through its official Twitter account while Verizon has yet to make a statement for the Lollipop 5.0 update for the South Korean phablet smartphone owners. T-Mobile has made the announcement that the update is in 'manufacturer development,' but did not give out a release date.

Galaxy Note 3:

T-Mobile subscribers of the Galaxy Note 3 will be rejoicing because the carrier has officially released the update for the aforementioned smartphone users. It has been reported that the update was available in India on March 5, 2015.

Galaxy Note 2:

Previously, the Denmark and Poland regions had confirmed that the Galaxy Note 2 will be receiving the Lollipop 5.0 update in February but it appears that they have rescinded their promise since no download notification has appeared on user's smartphones. Currently, there is no word on when the update will be released.

Galaxy Note Edge:

Released alongside the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge owners residing in Australia have received the Lollipop 5.0 update. Other than that, no other regions have received the update. Seeing as how the Galaxy Note Edge is one of Samsung's recently released higher tier smartphones, the update should have been released a long time ago.

So far, that is all the information concerning Samsung's Galaxy Note lineup and the Lollipop 5.0 update. When more information becomes available, it will be published accordingly.
