Nexus smartphone news: Two Nexus LG and Huawei smartphones to be launched this year; no tablets releasing after all

Earlier this year, there were rumors disseminating that Google was going to launch a Nexus tablet in collaboration with rising Chinese smartphone company Huawei.

However, those rumors can be put to rest now, because the latest information posted on GSMDome states that no tablets bearing the Nexus brand are going to be launched in 2015. While this may be disappointing for consumers who were loyal followers of the product, Nexus 9 was unable to garner sufficient sales primarily because Google shifted away from providing products with a healthy price/performance ratio.

Instead, two Nexus smartphones are going to be launched this year. One is going to be developed by South Korean smartphone maker LG, which will be called LG Angler, while the other is going to be developed by Huawei. LG Angler is expected to feature a 5.2 inch screen size, 2,700 mAh battery and will be powered by a Snapdragon 808 SoC.

LG G4, which is the company's recently announced flagship smartphone, did not feature a Snapdragon 810, and instead, went with a much more efficient Snapdragon 808, so there is no surprise that LG Angler will feature a Snapdragon 808.

The device that is currently in development by Huawei is expected to feature the model name Bullhead. The smartphone is expected to boast a phablet sized form factor of a 5.7 inch screen, 3,500 mAh battery and a Snapdragon 810. However, since the project has been handed over to Huawei, it is also possible that the Chinese firm incorporates its own 'system on a chip' in the smartphone, which could range anywhere between Kirin 930 to Kirin 950.

According to Android Police, both handsets will be announced during the month of October. Google has not confirmed the approximate price of both smartphones, but seeing as how Nexus 6 was stamped with a fairly expensive one, it is most likely that LG Angler and Huawei Bullhead will also carry expensive price tags.
