Nexus 9 vs iPad Air 2 vs Galaxy Tab S2 rumored specs comparison

Both the Nexus 9 and the iPad Air 2 were impressive slates when mobile aficionados wanted to experience the best tablets that the Android and iOS platforms had to offer. However, in terms of performance, the iPad Air 2 was able to blaze past the Nexus 9, despite the fact that the latter was equipped with NVIDIA's powerful Tegra K1 chipset with a 64 bit capable dual core Denver processor. Now, Samsung will be looking to take the lead with its upcoming Galaxy Tab S2 tablet.

According to GSMArena, the Galaxy Tab S2 is expected to be thinner than the iPad Air 2. If the rumors end up being true, then the iPad Air 2 will cease to exist as the thinnest tablet ever, which currently holds a thickness of 6.1 mm. According to SAMMobile, the Galaxy Tab S2 will be shipped out in the 8 and 9.7 inch form factor variants. The difference in screen size will also allow Samsung to incorporate a larger battery pack to the larger slate, which is the same thing that the South Korean phone giant did with its Galaxy Tab S lineup of tablets.

Similar to the company's current flagship tablets, it is also possible that the Galaxy Tab S2 will feature an LTE connectivity variant. As for the component that will be powering up the products, Samsung will be looking to incorporate its Exynos 7420 chipset, a chip that is expected to be running in the tech firm's upcoming Galaxy S6 smartphone. The chipset was able to beat Apple's A8X tri-core processor (present in the iPad Air 2) in GeekBench's multi-core test, though it was not able to repeat the feat in the single core test.

The Galaxy Tab S2 will most likely be showcased at the Mobile World Congress 2015, which is going to be held in Barcelona.
