Moto 360 vs. Apple iWatch specs comparison: Which smartwatch trumps on battery life?

Motorola's smartwatch offering was released back in 2014. Apple's wearable, dubbed as the Apple Watch, is expected to be released shortly after the Cupertino tech giant unveils its latest iOS update, the iOS 8.2, which will provide added support for developers in order to roll out optimized applications for the the Apple Watch.

While no exact hardware specifications have been unveiled regarding the Apple Watch, it is expected to carry an application processor, which will most likely be manufactured by Samsung's plants and will carry the 14 nm FinFET fabrication process, resulting in better performance and less battery life consumption. However, despite that, the Apple Watch is being rumored to exhibit terrible battery life, and while it has not yet been pitted against the Moto 360, which runs the Android Wear platform, chances are that the Apple Watch's performance will subdue that of the Moto 360.

Battery life on the Moto 360 is equally egregious, carrying a modicum battery pack of just 300 mAh. Majority of smartwatches running Google's Android Wear platform will have to be charged on a daily basis in order to prevent being rendered non-functional due to quick battery depletion. As for the remainder of the hardware specifications, the Moto 360's have been detailed below:

  • Screen size: 1.5 inches with resolution of 320 x 320 pixels
  • Chipset: TI OMAP 3
  • RAM: 512 MB
  • Storage: 4 GB
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 4.0
  • Battery: 300 mAh
  • Functionality: Heart rate monitor and pedometer
  • Price: $249.99

While the Apple Watch will have better hardware specifications, it is also rumored to have a hefty base price tag of $349. Consumers in different regions will have to pay a little extra due to currency difference combined with the extra duty charges.

The Apple Watch will reportedly roll out in April.
