'Mortal Kombat X' character update: Ermac is the 14th character

Ermac, the fictional character from the "Mortal Kombat" fighting game franchise, has been revealed in the upcoming "Mortal Kombat X" title. The character is the 14th confirmed fighter that will be available as a playable avatar. The remaining fighters that have already been included in the game are: Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Cassie Cage, D'Vorah, Kotal Kahn, Ferra & Torr, Raiden, Kano, Reptile, Kitana, Kung Lao, Quan Chi and Goro.

During the stream where it was shown that Ermac is going to be part of the fighting roster, it was teased that the game will also be introducing new forms of "Fatalities."

Similar to the previous entries in the "Mortal Kombat" franchise, "Mortal Kombat X" will feature a one-on-one battle between two characters with their own unique repertoire of moves, chained combos, special moves and, of course, the iconic Fatalities. In addition, gamers will also be able to execute special "X-Ray" moves, which end up draining significant amounts of health from the vitality meter.

Unique fighting moves are not the only gameplay elements that gamers will be able to interact with. Just like "Injustice: Gods Among Us," which was made by the same developer, players will be able to use the environment to their advantage, bouncing off enemies and using parts and objects in their surroundings to deal serious damage to opponents.

While the following has not been confirmed, it is expected that the title will feature online functionality.

Apart from improving the combat section of the game, "Mortal Kombat X" is expected to boast stunning visuals because it is made on the Unreal Engine 3. The critically acclaimed "Bioshock Infinite" was made on the same engine.

"Mortal Kombat X" is expected to be released on April 14.
