Microsoft's upcoming operating system, Windows 10, is yet to be officially launched. However, the tech giant already released a Technical Preview that is available for IT professionals to download. According to the company, Windows 10 will be stuffed with a myriad of features, including the iconic Start Menu, multiple desktops, and Microsoft's Cortana, a virtual personal assistant available on the Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Band.

According to additional details, Microsoft will launch its Windows 10 platform later this year, delaying the original release date of April 2015. However, as the year draws closer and closer to the official launch period, the company will also be sharing more information regarding universal apps of Windows 10, particularly at the annual Build conference scheduled to take place in April. The Technical Preview license will expire on April 15, after which a complete beta version of Windows 10 is expected to be released. According to Reuters, Microsoft's Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner said that the operating system will be available by late summer.

The Surface tablet maker also announced that it has scheduled an event in Redmond, Virginia focused on its upcoming OS. The event is expected to be held on Jan. 21, where executives of the company, including Terry Myerson, Joe Belfiore, Xbox's Phil Spencer and CEO Satya Nadella will be present.

Coming to what the platform has to offer, Windows 10 will feature a "unified interface," allowing it to deliver the same user experience, irrespective of which device or desktop computer the individual is using. In addition, Spartan will reportedly replace Internet Explorer as the default web browser and will support the use of extensions, just like Chrome and Firefox. Furthermore, Windows 10 will feature an expanded Start Menu, and will also provide an Xbox app on the desktop.
