Microsoft Surface 3 vs. Dell Venue 10 7000 specs comparison: Which reigns in productivity?

Computer system manufacturer Dell is looking to diminish the capabilities of laptops through the introduction of its 10.5 inch Venue 10 7000 tablet, which radiates a resolution of 1600p. The tablet itself carries a price tag of $499, which is the exact same price stamped on Microsoft's Surface 3 slate. However, if users want to purchase a magnetic detachable keyboard for their Dell Venue 10 7000, then it will set them back by $130, meaning that they will actually be paying $629 for the entire product.

One huge drawback of Dell's 10.5 tablet is that it is running Google's mobile platform. Unlike Surface 3, which is running a desktop version of Windows 8.1, users will be running into a boatload of difficulties when firing up office related applications on the Android operating system. For Surface 3 users, starting apps like Microsoft Word and PowerPoint is going to be relatively simple, seeing as how they are being run on their native operating system.

Neil Hand,  Vice President of Dell Tablet Group, stated:

"They want to be productive and get work done wherever they are, they want a great entertainment experience, and they want to carry something that turns heads."

If Dell was running Microsoft's Windows platform, then it would prove more useful for the corporate sector. Another reason to own Microsoft's Surface 3 is that it will be updated to Windows 10, and will be receiving the company's Redstone update during the 2016 period. No doubt Venue 10 7000 has been incorporated with some impressive hardware specifications (Intel's Atom Z3580, 2 GB of RAM, 8 megapixel RealSense depth camera, 7000 mAh battery), but in order to increase overall productivity in an office and/or home environment, users will require a more refined platform.

That is where Microsoft's Surface 3 superiority lies. While users will be required to purchase accessories such as an aftermarket keyboard for their Windows tablet, Surface 3 possesses a fully functional USB port, allowing users to plug in a USB keyboard or mouse to improve their overall productivity.
