Smartphone manufacturing companies are ditching fingerprint scanners and replacing them with iris scanners, which are expected to provide far better security compared to the former. The latest mobile device that has been rumored to feature the advanced security measure is Microsoft's Lumia 940 XL, which will serve as the company's successor of its Lumia 930. Similar to other smartphone manufacturing companies, Microsoft is expected to roll out two smartphones in the near future.

Previous reports state that the upcoming handsets feature the codenames Lumia Talkman and Lumia Cityman. Judging from the model name, Lumia 940 XL has been codenamed Lumia Cityman, since that is the name given to the handset that possesses a screen size of 5.7 inches and radiates a resolution of 1440p. Additionally, the smartphone is expected to be incorporated with Snapdragon 810. However, if the upcoming flagship handset is released during or after the month of November, it is possible that Lumia 940 XL will be sporting a Snapdragon 820.

Owning a phablet sized smartphone has many advantages; with enough space to accommodate a large battery being one of them. While the following news is yet to be confirmed, Lumia 940 XL is rumored to be powered by a 3,500 mAh cell. The energy efficiency property of Snapdragon 820 and a 3,500 mAh battery will present a winning combination of extended battery backup time to the user, which is why the aforementioned mobile chipset is expected to be favored over Snapdragon 810.

Moving on, the handset is will most likely be armed with 3 GB of RAM, which should be sufficient for fulfilling multitasking purposes on Lumia 940 XL. As for the platform that will be running on the smartphone; Lumia 940 XL is expected to be running Windows 10 'out of the box'. The upcoming operating system will be released for desktop, laptop and tablet machines first, then make its way to smartphones later in the year.

That should give Microsoft enough time to make sure that its upcoming flagship duo become one of the most coveted handsets of 2015.
