Lumia Cityman and Lumia Talkman specs rumors: dual-curved edge display to be featured

After the announcement of Samsung Galaxy Edge, several other rumors have been spreading revolving around smartphone companies expected to release handsets sporting a curved edge display. The latest rumor now revolves around software giant Microsoft, and the company's rumored dual-curved edge Lumia smartphone. According to Neowin, the rumored handset is not going to feature one, but two curved-edge displays designed to provide additional flexibility to the user without switching on the primary display of the device.

So far, devices with only a single curved display have been launched, which includes Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge. Similar to the rumored Lumia smartphone, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is also being rumored to come with a dual-curved edge display. Incorporating such a display is going to be a costly venture for the smartphone maker, and so far, only two companies are known for dominating the display market; Samsung and LG.

Since the aforementioned firms of South Korean origin are able to move around substantial amounts of display volume, it is possible that Microsoft will form a coalition with either one of them in order to reduce additional costs that come with adding such a display. While the following feature has not been confirmed to be integrated in to Windows 10's Continuum feature, in the event that a dual-curved edge Lumia smartphone is launched, Microsoft could somehow integrate Continuum in to the applications that appear on both sides of the curved edge display.

Currently, the only rumor surrounding the upcoming Lumia flagship smartphones that cannot be dismissed completely is the fact that they feature codenames Lumia Cityman and Lumia Talkman. Lumia Talkman is expected to feature a 5.2 inch while Lumia Cityman will sport a phablet sized form factor with a screen size measuring 5.7 inches. One smartphone is expected to feature a Snapdragon 808, while the other will be running Snapdragon 810.

Once again, these rumors can only be confirmed after Windows 10 for smartphones and tablets has been officially announced. Additional information concerning Lumia handsets will be updated in the future.
